Default Camry 2001 2AZ-FE Check engine light!

Hello forumers!

Recently my car has no power. I need to accelerate on 1st gear to 4000 rpm to get the gear change to 2nd gear.

No noticeable shake or misfire.

The fault pin point to the knock sensor. Could a knock sensor cause the car to loss power ?

Thanks!

Is this a US car? Thought this engine was offered on 2002 and later Camry?

Did the problem start when the check engine light came on?

Does the engine still have power, but now the trans does not shift to 2nd until 4000 rpm? Meaning it may be a transmission problem?

Depending on the knock sensor code, the computer could put the engine into safe mode which retards timing. Not sure what else save mode does.

How is the throttle response, reasonably normal or you put your foot to the gas and the engine responds very slowly?

Hello! Its not a transmission problem cause I put in P/N position and the throttle response is still not responsive. It just show me "knock sensor" But IMO knock sensor wouldn't cause engine non responsive problems. Any advise please do
