Default Camry (ECT) switch

1993 Camry LE...

I don't notice much of a difference in horsepower when this switch is on or off...

Background:
I had some engine work a few months ago (head gasket) and have noticed this problem in horsepower since then. The engine has 260K and still going strong...

I also did a major tune-up recently to get the engine in top shape;.... air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, cap rotor, oxygen sensor, cleaned the IAC valve. Gas mileage has been great at about 22MPG, with A/C on the mileage is around 20MPG...

is there a wire or plug connector I could check to see if this switch wasn't connected right? The part may be worn out, considering the mileage of 260K. Just curious where to start looking on my own instead of taking it back to the mechanic and losing time at work to do so....

The switch changes the trans shift pattern slightly to raise shift speeds.

It is not going to do anything to change HP output.
