Default Check engine light at 35k

Can anyone tell me if the check engine light comes on routinely in Camrys right before their 35k scheduled maintenance as a service reminder?

My friend has a 2011 LE Camry and has no clue. I'm trying to help but I don't know anything about Toyotas. I'm a Honda guy and work on them myself.

Hondas have what they call "Maintenance Minders" on their newer cars to remind owners about oil service. I'm hoping this is the case.

If it isn't the case, I guess I'll be hooking up my OBD-II scanner to the Camry and self-diagnosing the error code(s).

And yes, I tried the search function on here, but couldn't find an answer. Thanks for any response ahead of time.

Check the owners manual for explanations of what the various icons on the dash mean.

If the light that is on is really the check light engine light then something is wrong, time to use that scanner.
