P0441 trouble code?
My 05 Camry 2.4L 4 cyl; with auto trans, recently failed the IL emission's test. I ran the OBD II code's with my reader, and got a P0441 trouble code. Talking to a few mechanic's, they recommend replacing either the purge solenoid, or the vacuum switch. One guy mentioned that the evap solenoid could be bad? Any recommendations from folks that have had a P0441 code? I have been told that a P0441 code has nothing to do with oxygen sensors? I currently do not have a Camry factory service manual. Any input is greatly appreciated!

po400 codes have to do with the engine computer or pcm pulling a vacuum on the gas tank and hoses to make ure ths system is not leaking gas vapors into the atmosphere. It will not make you fail a emmissions test, you prob need a tune up,o2 sensor,or a good fuel system cleaning. You might try a new gas cap for your code with the evap system, otherwise,go have it diagnosed, you can spend more money replacing parts than what it will cost for repair sometimes.

Thanks for the reply! I already replaced the gas cap, no dice. I am going to replace some of the vacuum tubing off the throttle body, as well as the EVAP vacuum switch. How do you clean the fuel system? Do you connect a can of cleaner (fuel injection?) with a service port fitting, on to the EVAP service port valve?

No,that is strictly for the evap system pulling a vacuum. You can go to dealef or aftermarket service center, and get one.The fuel system cleaning that work s an induction type. The cleaner is pressureized and goes in engine at throttle body like a mist or like hair sparay comes out.Usually cost 70-100 dollars.I se rec every 30k,our gasoline we use causes these deposits,so always use "branded" gas,it has some additives in it.Try to stay away from ethanol fuel.
