Happy New Year!

I've a 94 2.2 camry at.

The seatbelt light lit up a couple
Of days ago, i tried ejecting and inserting
The belt again but the light won't go out.

Has anybody experienced this before?

I Would appreciate it if anyone can
Point me in the right direction to fix this?

Thanks.

The seat belt buckle where the tongue portion of the belt inserts has an electrical switch. The switch could have debris on its mechanical parts, is failing or the wiring to it is unplugged or damaged.

If you look carefully around the buckle area where it bolts to the chassis you should see the wiring running to the switch. The electrical harness plug to the switch is under the seat. The switch itself is most likely incorporated into the buckle making access and replacement difficult.

Check the wiring to the switch for damage and the electrical connects at the plug under the seat to make sure they are making good electrical contact with each other.

Might try cleaning the area inside the latch with electrical contact cleaner spray in a can having a long narrow tube nozzle that can be inserted into the latch. There are products that clean but don't leave a residue as the liquid evaporates quickly. Don't use a spray having a lubricant as this will gum up the works. Also clean the plug wiring connectors under the seat.

One brand is MG Chemicals Electrosolve Contact Cleaner for electronics but there are many others available.

If no luck cleaning the switch and no other faults are found the switch may need replacing which includes replacing the buckle. The buckle is bolted to the chassis by one bolt.

If you can live without the switch find the harness plug under the seat and use a jumper wire to connect between the harness plug electrical terminals to turn of dash light.
