Default security system key engine immobilizer faulty?

I just bought a 2011 Toyota Camry XLE and was wondering if anyone has heard of using the turn signal to be able to turn the car on. I put the key in and i cant turn the car on, but if i move the turn signal to the right the car turns on. Has anyone heard of this or have the same thing on their car. I bought the car for my wife and left her at the dealer when I bought the car and the sales guy told her it was part of the security for this vehicle. Not sure!

On my original key was a button to lock the car, and a key to start the engine. The key will unlock the door, however if the button was used to lock the doors, then the alarm will go off. I guess the security system and key are seperate, even though both are toyota stock. I drive a '95 celica. If i use the key and set the alarm off, will the engine still start and quiet the alarm? If not, what do i do?

Check the owners manual for the turn signal issue. If required it should be listed as how would the uninformed know about this.

If not listed call another Toyota dealer and ask.
