The part is Camry Engine Canister Module 77740-6030 and has a hole in the bottom of it is from rubbing something. See pictures after being cleaned up. Look closely at the third picture bottom plastic piece for the hole.

If you blow in the bottom vacumn line on the cannister it comes out the hole,. Plug hole with finger and it comes out the top vacumn line.

Top is rusty but still intact and will repair the top plastic cover that was cracked.

Need to fix the hole and replace. Also replaced my gas filter since I can't remember when last replaced and severely rusted.

Putting together tomorrow and will test.

My mistake. Just looked at a new cannister that hole is for a vacumn line and appears to of broken off. Will instigate where line is.

The can is vented to air.

There should be a diagram in the engine compartment showing the emissions vacuum hose routing.

I looked at the routing under hood and not much detail on cannister and unable to locate more detail online.

There are two top vacuum hoses which connect to two nipples on top. One states purge and the other states tank.

A third vacuum hose toward bottom , much larger and thicker goes from its nipple to a connection in the left fender that has an inline filter.

I was expecting a vacuum hose for the bottom where nipple broke but I think this is a vent like you said..

My understanding is one line takes in the vapors from the tank when fueling (tank line top) and is trapped by the charcoal inside the cannister and another line adds air to the cannister( bottom line on cannister) and the third line (purge line top) pushes the mixture to the engine to be burned. The bottom line appears to be a vent. This all minimizes pollution.

So far no check engine light error after about 150 miles after replacing fuel filter, checking vacuum hoses, and inspecting/cleaning outside of cannister..

Still looking for a more detailed diagram but have better understanding for further troubleshooting.
