Default 2009 Manual Knocks When Shifting Into 1st

Just purchased a 2009 CE about five days ago and noticed that there is a slight knocking/bumping noise when going from neutral to 1st gear. No noises shifting to any other gears, just from the stopped position/neutral to 1st. Owned a 5-speed Accord for six years up to the purchase of this car and never had this problem. The mechanic at a local body shop I trust said it may be a synchronization problem, while forums for other cars such as Mazda's RX8 suggest that it could be a normal sound. Can anyone shed any light on this before I head back to the dealer or go to the local transmission shop?
