both out of car and need to hook them together, any tips to make it easier to get bolted up with minimum trouble.

 

Don't force them together( as in pulling them together with a longer bolt) you may/willdamage it. It has to start and twist in, get a friend to help. Check the two fluid compartments assuming its like the 94-96 trans you may have lost some fluid rolling it around while getting it in.
