Unhappy HELP - Key won't turn in ignition

I hope one of you can help,

I have a 1992 camry and the strangest thing happened today.

I went to my parents place to help my dad with some things and parked the car in the driveway, half an hour later when I went to start it I couldn't turn the key in the ignition. I could turn it from lock to acc but I couldn't turn it from acc to on or start. The steering wheel will not lock when I turn the key back to lock, it use to before this. I've "jiggled" the steering wheel. I switched from park to neutral and back to park.

I don't know what to make of it, my dad tried it too. The worst part is that the power windows are down and the only way to get power to them is by turning the key to the ON position.

I even went home and got another key and that didn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Ryan

Same problem with my 99 camry. Try blowing out the lock cylinder with canned air, air hose and then minimal amount of lubricant. Worked for me.

Suggest a graphite based key lock lube.

Make sure you are using an original key and not a duplicate.

Default 1999 Camry key will not turn.

My key would not move in the ignition.
My wife's key to my car would not move it either.
After reading the suggestion to try graphite I went to the auto store and picked some up. I put the graphite on my key before putting the key into the ignition and tried to start the car. It did not work. I put the graphite on my wife's key before putting it into the ignition and the car started right up!
I had two problems:
1. My key was worn out and
2. The ignition needed graphite. (Put the graphite on the key not in the key hole.)
I had a new key made from my wife's key and I keep the graphite in the car with me just in case.
