just bought a 91, 4cyl. better gas mileage?
i found a 91 2.0 with 59000+ miles on it, are there any tricks to bump up my gas mileage. i bought it for a daily driver getting from what i can tell around 26 miles a galon right now, but i'd like more. the sentra i had was getting around 35mpg. anything that could help?
Seafoam the intake 3 times (using a 1/4 can incrimate i.e. half a cup)
Seafoam / Marvel Mystery Oil / Kerosene flush the oil system
Take the entire intake off and clean it, the throttlebody, idle valve, and EGR vlaves by hand
Replace the spark plugs With Denso, or NGK Generic plugs ONLY ($1-2 a plug), and the distributor rotor & cap
Replace the oxygen sensor with a Bosch generic splice in sensor
Change the base ignition timing on the distributor from 10*btdc to 13-15*btdc, and lean the AFM cog a few clicks
Replace the PCV valve, and air filter
Use a good 5w-30 weight oil (5 quarts of Mobil1 Synthetic sells for $18-20usd at Walmart) NO THICKER.
Check compression / cylinder leak down, and vacuum test & see what shape it's in.
Check / Adjust valves. If dirty, clean them.
