Need more power on an 1987 Camry
Hey guys,
I have a 1987 Toyota Camry with only 68,000 miles on it that is in really good condition, but it is really lacking power. Ive been looking around and I can't seem to find anything that would help this car gain some horsepower. I was hoping you guys would know what to look for or what to get to help my car gain more power.
Thanks!
Joe

Well what's your budget? An camry that old with so little miles is amazing. If you have a limited budget start off with i/h/e. If you have some more money throw a turbo on, port and polish the engine. I'd keep the engine you have in the car cause if you swap it the new engine won't last you as long as that engine will.

Well since these performance companies don't wana make parts for camrys the only real way to go is using universal parts and some cutom things. My advice go to pepboys and they have a universal intake there. It will fit your car and all you have to do is add a better filter on to it. As far as exhasut there are no bolt ons. What you can do is buy a universal muffler and take it to a muffler shop and have them either weld it on or get all new piping (2.25inchs) stay away from the cheap mufflers. They'll sound nice for about a week but then when they're broken in they'll sound loud and annoying. I think you can get this all done for about 300
