Default Shift-Lock

Hey guys i recently purchased a 2008 toyota camry i have about 1500 miles on it havent had any problems until tonight...Car started perfectly however it will not shift out of park...The brake seems a bit soft and when i depress the brake the lights dont go on and it will not shift out of park...However i pressed the shift lock button and shifted out of park and drove around the block no brake lights still and then put it back into park and same thing happened again will not shift out of park. Any information on what you guys might think the problem is will be great thank you

The shiftlock is interconnected with the brake light system switch. This push button switch is at the top of the brake pedal shaft, make sure it is working. Might be a diffective switch or out of adjustment.

As the car is still under warranty suggest letting the dealer fix it.

Forgot to add, check your brake lights. If not working you will know the issue is in the brake system.
