Default Which spark plug for '95 Camry 5SFE

Hi all,

I'm really confused as to which spark plugs to get for my Camry. Toyota and NGK recommend 'BKR6EP-11' which from my understanding is a platinum tipped NGK plug.

Would I be able to run the equivalent NGK Iridium plug (BKR6EIX-11)? I don't mind paying extra for a longer lasting plug..

Yes, platinum plug.

Yes, can use the Iridium plug listed.

A platinum plug in this engine will last at least 100K.

Is there any advantage running an NGK Iridium plug over an NGK copper other than the Iridium lasting longer?

According to NGK, Iridium's will spark better although some say copper plugs spark better..?

Is this copper core? NGK states all their plugs have a copper core.

I mean full copper plugs without the fancy tips. Basic NGK plugs are $4-5 here, $14 for Iridium

I'm not sure about full copper but I can attest to iridium plugs. I don't think the previous owner of my car ever changed the old iridium plugs out and the car ran like a champ. I changed them just out of being picky and the electrode (fancy tip) was worn down pretty hard. I'm pretty sure this car went for 120K miles without a plug change. I would spend the extra for iridium in the long run. I bought my NGK's on ebay for about $30 for a set of four and free shipping.

NGK "copper" plugs have a copper core (same as there other plugs), not electrode. The electrode is nickel or nickel alloy.

For a stock engine a platinum plug is fine and low cost.

If you want longer life use iridium.

For more reasonable prices on plugs shop the internet.
