Default Starter issues

Hi, new here, but ill get to the chase.

I have a 2002 camry with about 115k miles on it. its still in fantastic shape but recently i have been experiencing starter issues. Battery is fine, lights, radio, etc go on no problem. Took apart the air filter to get to the starter, took it out and cleaned all the connections. took the starter to an auto parts store and confirmed it works just fine.

Ive heard of the love tap, where you tap the starter and it should work. This is what I have been doing to remedy my situation. I have to do this every other day or so. a couple taps on the starter and it starts up normally.

should this be of a major cause of concern for myself? do i need to replace anything?

any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Barring a bad electrical wire connection the issue could be the solenoid.

Call a Toyota parts department and ask if the internal electrical relay contacts can be replaced and if so do they sell the contact parts. The solenoid may not be repairable in which case a new one is needed.

However the cost of a solenoid may be 50-75% of the cost of a complete rebuilt starter.

But since most rebuilds are junk might be worth it to keep the OEM starter motor and just replace the solenoid with an aftermarket name brand unit (much cheaper then Toyota part) like the one below:
