Throttle body
Hey everyone....This post is for anyone whom can answer my problem..
I have an 05 camry...The throttle body has been stuck in limp mode and sometimes the Cel light goes on and then goes off and problem persist as far as engine dying anything over 2k rpms....
I know they have redesigned this part so moisture doesnt get in and want about 1,000$ for it...My question i guess is there a way to drill the pop rivets on the electric motor on the throttle body and clean it out and re pop rivet it back in place and fix it myself? I know buying a used one i could just find the same problem again.
I noticed spraying throttle body cleaner inside the tb itself kind of helps, ive done it before and got about another 10k out of it. Now I think its shot and and a simple cleaning wont help anymore...
It has 185,000 miles 05 camry with I-4...
Just would hate to spend a grand on something if i can fix it myself i suppose...
Has anyone done this before? Is it spring loaded? is there a diagram ?

Also check at the Toyotanation website.
Suggest using something like CRC brand electrical contact cleaner rather then throttle body cleaner.
Toyota's has only info for remove and replace.
If needed to buy the part new shop online at sites such as below that sell parts at a discount. If calling identify yourself as an internet customer to receive the discount.
"Toyota Parts" | "Toyota Accessories" | Parts.TitusWillToyota.com

If I do go about replacing it with a new one, whats the part number or what I should look for as far as one that has been corrected to seal the moisture out? Or rather any specific numbers on the part itself I should look for? Would hate to spend 700+$'s on a part that was factory original rather than one that has been corrected if that makes sense?
I know scion tc, Rav4, and Solara all share the same engine...But if I buy a used one that came off a rav4 or tc will it plug and play? Will the ecu read its not the correct part thus not allowing it to function? Thats my main concern.
I know its a common problem and from what ive learned its due to moisture....Is this correct? Or is it cause of another reason? Ive read where the failure has happend on motors with 40,000 miles....How does that explain ive got 185k out of mine? haha just seems odd the post I read are failures with less than 100k...Will the new part fail too or has it been corrected to not fail....
