Default 02 Camry Battery Holder sparks flying, pls help

Hi all, I drive an 02 camry SE V6, 3.0, and the other day I was driving and noticed sparks flying from the hood. I got home and popped the hood and noticed that the battery holder was flying around and anytime it touched something metal sparks would fly... So i took it out (battery holder - imgur: the simple image sharer ) I was thinking of just leaving it out, because it looks like the screws used to hold it in are destroyed. Is this a bad idea? Should i take it somewhere and have them re-mount it? I am just broke and cannot afford to get ripped off Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

There should be two long rods one on each end of the holder you show in the photo, one is missing. It would be similar to the one still attached to the holder. The missing rod may have dropped to the ground but look around the lower part of long side of the battery in case not.

The rods hook into a slots in the chassis on the lower side of the battery.

You need the other rod or fabricate something. Basically a long rod the diameter of the hole in the bracket you have, threaded at one and having a J-hook bent in the other.

The J-hook installs into the slot in the chassis. The threaded end goes into the hold in the bracket, then a nut is installed as was done on the other end of the bracket that remains attached.

The bolts are installed, the bracket installed on the bolts shanks and then the nuts installed and snugged down to clamp the bracket down on the battery.

Suggest you conduct an internet search to find posts and videos (YouTube) on how to change a car battery. Most batteries are held in place by the same method. Knowing how the battery is clamped down will allow to better understand how to fix the problem and what part to look for.

An auto parts store may have generic rods or complete holders at reasonable prices.

If you have the replacement rod, unless something is really damaged clamping down the battery will take 10 minutes.

Perhaps you have friends who work on cars who can help.
