07 Camry, Maint Req'd Light at 5k mi?
I have owned this Camry for about months now and just hit5k mi. Around the time I hit 5k mi the "Maint Req'd" light is now on continuosly. I know my first oil change is at 5k, but would the light come on just for that, or do I have another problem possibly and need to take it in for warranty? Any feedback would be much appreciated!

The maint req'd light is just a reminder and will automatically reappear every 5k miles. You're dealer will reset it once they complete your 1st oil change. Read your owners manual for more info.

I have a 05 cam with the same light. As stated before it appears every 5k like clock work. However i wish it went by engine hours instead! I believe its for your oil change service due, as a reminder. This light can be reset by the dealer or the owner or even perhaps a local automotive repair shop if there fimilar enough with the newer car systems? Might even be located in your owners manul on how to reset? If not i know the way to reset my light atleast. Not sure if its the same way or not .
Mine goes
Put the key in the iginition and leave on off. Hold the odometer tripometer stick or button down for 20 seconds. While holding it down after 20or so seconds turn the key on to the run position but DO NOT START! Then a series of dash's should appear where the mileage readout display is. Sorta like this ---- --- -- - and then finally none. That will reset the mant req light only!
Hope this helps

you guys really should look at the oil on the dipstick when u've reached 5K miles...im willing to bet its pitch black.
also if you take notice that your car idles more roughly and loudly and perhaps takes just a tad longer to start in the morning when you dont change ur oil every 3K.
i bet right after the oil change u'll find your car operates better, but even so gunk will begin to build up faster since changing your oil doesnt get rid of all the old oil.
So unless you see that your oil still looks good at 5K, i'd change it before. And yes i know that means resetting the maint req. light at random intervals, but its easy to do and i've been doing it for a while on our highlander.

You're pretty much on the money except is doesn't require any waiting period. Just press and holdthe tripmeter reset- turn the ignition switch on- wait for the ------ to finish, then release. It doesn't requiring any additional holding period before or after the reset sequence.

Does anyone know how to get certain things to work.. like before i removed the batter to replace a part my doors would lock when i put it in gear, and then unlock when i put it back in park. Now it only locks them and wont unlock them. Basically i reset the cars memory system. Theres gotta be away besides going to the dealer. Im guessing it has something to do with the alarm system?
