I just purchased a used 08 Camry XLE. The moonroof sits about 1/8-1/4" higher than roof on the rear side of the glass. The front edge sits flush with roof. When I first bought the car, the moonroof would stick in the rear to the roof when trying to fully retract moonroof. You can see the car roof flex and then it would make a pop sound. The dealer ordered a new gasket/weatherstripping and told me to come back for them to fix. it is not a Toyo dealer so I am having second thoughts of driving all the way back there. Now the moonroof won't open and controls are acting wacky. The tilt works but now it is not closing correctly. Is there any way to adjust the moonroof?

 

There might be a manual control under a panel near the light switch.

There might be service bulletin on the moon roof rattling, sometimes these bulletins have an extended warranty periods beyond the one that came with the car. Rattling, popping, same thing. Call a dealer and ask about this. Tell them the moonroof is making rattling, popping noises you heard their might be a service bulletin, does it apply, is there any extended warranty period, etc. Maybe they will fix it for free.

If the controls are acting strange suggest you keep the window close until it can be fixed.
