1991 Camry Fuel system
My Camry died on the freeway over the weekend...it is not getting fuel, is there a way to check the fuel pump relay? Besides the relay or the fuel pump is there any other troubleshooting I should be doing?

You didn't post your engine/year. How do you know it's not getting fuel? Testing the fuel system is fairly extensive and not good to do on a forum. You should get a Haynes manual which describes in detail how to test each component. Could be fuel pump, even if it works, pressure regulator, fuel filter, relays (EFI main, Circuit Opening), fuse (inspect). If pump works you will need a pressure tester.

Thanks for the response...Its a 91 camry with a 4 cyl 2.2 auto. I pulled the fuel line from the entrance to the EFI and turned the car over..No fuel, I guessI'm trying to eliminate all possibilities before I have to drop the fuel tank.

I think the pump is accessed from above, in the trunk. Take a look. You could disconnect the pump wires and attached a test light to the wire leads, turn the key to ignition and see if the light goes on. That will tell you if all the fuses and relays work. listening for the pump from the trunk will also tell you if it's working.

Check under hood on DS between trans and inner fender closer to firewall. I doubt it would have plugged all of a sudden. You should have noticed poor top end performance first when fuel demand is highest. But it's a good idea to replace as I have found not many people service them on a regular basis. If it hasn't been changed in a while you will find the banjo bolt tough to get off. You'll need a backup wrench with a helper as well.

Thanks..I found it and you are right its tough getting off...When I crank the car it sounds like fuel pump is working so I'm wondering if the fuel line isn't plugged somewhere along the line as the car is old and there could be alot of junk in the fuel tank.
