Default 1991 Camry with Leaking trunk

I bought a 1991 Camry about a week ago and all seems to be going pretty well with it mechanically but the trunk leaks like crazy. The weather stripping around the trunk is all intact. There are no tears or cracks in it that I can see. I ran a bead of silicone calk around the edge just in case. The leak appears to only be on the right hand side. As far as I can tell, it seems to be running down the back wall off to the right where the "side wall" that the jack lives behind is located. It is raining every afternoon down here in Florida right now. Every time it rains, that right "well" fills to the brim with water. I really need to get this leak fixed so I don't start growing mold in my trunk. The guy at the Auto Zone said they are notorious for leaking. Hoping someone might know a fix for this. I was thinking maybe there was possibly a problem with the seal around the rear windshield. Gladly looking for input.

you need to lock someone in the trunk with and bright flash light and run some water around the trunk area....most of the time its the tail light thats leaking...

Well, locking someone in the trunk is a little extreme. Dry out the trunk and sprinkle talcum powder around the side that's leaking. Then use a garden hose with a sprayer. In the meantime, you might want to drill a small hole in the well to allow the water to drain out to prevent rusting. Once you find the spot where it's leaking and repair it, you can seal the drain hole with silicone.

I just fixed (fingers crossed) my 89.
My son didn't seem to mind the trunk at least for the first hour.
There were several problems.
The rear bumper paint was cracked from an impact but there was no visible damage.
I thought it was a tail light and removed it, finding black goop still somewhat liquid sealing it to the body. This was wet in various areas where it had been leaking. It was not the only problem.
Further trunk time found the seems between the fender sections and the rear center section of the body had separated maybe 1/16". On the left side, you could see the gap. On the right youcouldn't.
I got some stuff called dum dum?(SP)? tape. It's kind of like playdough but sticky.
I applied this over both areas and on the side where I could se an outside gap, over that too.
We also found the trunk logo leaking. There are holes with plastic inserts and one of these leaked a little.
The one I haven't fixed is the power antenna which has rusted out, a common problem it seems.
Hope this helps.

JIM

My trunk has water in the side pockets of the trunk but I also have a vent missing.

on the right of the vehicle there is a drain hose that inserts into a rubber piece in the bottom of the right hand storage pocket, directly under the antenna. I found that my leak was cause by the hose not being inserted and the drain was dumping water into the trunk.
