I have a 1993 camry with 175000 miles on it. It runs great but when at idle in drive and in reverse the car vibrates like crazy. When its in park the car does not shake and is fairly smooth. When the cars in reverse the car probably shakes the most and then drive isnt good either. Do you know what could be causing this? I was thinking maybe spark plugs or ignition wires but if that was the problem wouldnt the vibration even occur in park? Im not sure but let me know what your opinions are? thanks

from my experince with toyota veh, its is possible that u may have a bad motor mount but not very likely i have never replaced any. i would look at ur plugs if its been a bit since thay have been replaced and also a throttal body clean, im assuming that ur speaking of a 4 cyl camry because the 6 usually dont have a low idle concern. the tb on the 4 cyl is VERY prone to gum up in the idle air control motor witch is part of the tb so that would be my first step.
if it is not cured possibly a top engine clean as well.

 

My previous car that I had would violently vibrate whenever I was on the freeway. I got it checked out and it turned out that my motor mounts needed to be replaced. So check to see if yours needs to be replaced also. I didnt bother getting my car new engine mounts because the dam thing ended up breaking down shortly after, then i got my toyota. Hope this helps some.
