Default 1994 Camry XLE sluggish - O/D off is flashing

I've hit a wall on this one. Car is very sluggish at take off and then cycles through the gears with no issues whatsoever. I've read a number of posts and nothing gets real specific and unfortunately I don't have the funds to take it to Toyota or to do a lot of experimenting. Any insight would be hugely appreciated.

The trans has is own diagnostic system. If the O/D light is flashing there could be a trouble code stored in the computer.

You might be able to access the codes yourself.

Look in the engine compartment drivers side strut mount (location the upper part of the strut bolts to) for a small plastic box. Inside the box are electrical terminals.

If you have the box find the Tr and E1 terminals.

With the ign switch on and O/D switch pushed in. Use a section of electrical wire or paper clip to connect the Tr and E1 terminals.

If codes are stored the O/D light will flash out the codes one numeral at a time. The codes are 2 numerals.

Example: 6 flashes, pause, 1 flash, longer pause = code 61.

If more then one code they will be outputted from lowest to highest. Once all codes have been outputted they will repeat.
