1996 Camry auto transmission problem

RE: 1996 Camry auto transmission problem
I bought a 1996 Camry. the transmission just went out at 151,000 miles. My question concerns the price quoted for a replacement (used, 70,000 miles, 1 yr. warranty)Purchase price is $650, labor $578. I live in rural north Florida. The overall price seems ok to me but I'd like the opinion of those more knowledgable.

You might be able to find a used trans cheaper by yourself but the combination of the trans and labor costs is reasonable, plus you have a warranty.
One issue with extending trans life in any car is changing the fluid often. The hotter it runs such as constant stop and go driving the faster it degrades. Keep an eye on the fluid color, should be red or reddish/black, if black have it changed. Normally every 30K miles is OK.

RE: 1996 Camry auto transmission problem
what did you end up doing?
I was looking for something else but I think the 200 rpm was just the converter locking and unlocking. best guess is that the 3-4 solenoid was not working properly OR has an electrial break or short somewhere.
the solenoids on the this transmission are replaceable w/o removing the transmission and engine from the car.
BTW I am looking for a tranmission assembly and disassembly guide.
