Default 1999 camry 4 cl. wont start

History on car before i get started
****Starter replaced 6 months
****fuel pump replaced 2 days ago
****spark plugs replaced 2 days ago
**** timing belt done 8 months ago
****spark plug wires replace 2 years ago

Hi there I have a 99 Camry with the 4 cyl. engine that wont start.

"""This is my Grandparents car"""

So i received a call from my grandfather saying that his car wont start. at first it would just sit there and idle but the minute he tried to give it gas it would die. but he could start it back up and it would idle for 5 to 10 minutes. but again minute he gave it throttle it would die. the it got to a point were it wouldn't start anymore. once i got to see the car and mes around for a little with it, i came to to conclusion fuel pump was bad ( couldn't hear it engage). so i replace the fuel pump, now you can hear it pumping like there is no tomorrow. but it still wont start. after trying to get it to start for a half hour i pulled the plugs, they where saturated in gasoline. so i pulled the plugs and replaced them with new ones. before doing so i left them out and floored the car and tried starting it again to get all the fuel out(as much as i could). after putting the new ones in still no start. and now also it sound as if the bendex on the starter isnt engaging. sounds almost as a free spinning wheel. every once in a while it will engage and try and start but it backs out before it will start.

Today im going to take the starter off and take it in and have it tested.

Have someone watch the drive belts on passengers side of engine when the starter is engaged to determine if they are moving.

A non-engaging starter will make a higher pitched whine noise as the starter motor is rotating faster then it normal does when engaged to the flywheel ring gear.

Has happened the flywheel ring gear teeth become damaged in one area. The result is the starter gear will not engage the teeth but only in that location.

Check starter motor gear teeth for damage. If damage they gear may not be able engage the flywheel teeth.

The fuel pump will only operate when the starter is engaged or engine running.

Check ign spark. It should be able to gap 1/2 inch air and be white in color.

Thanks,
I never though of doing that. Its usually the little things like that that slip my mind. I am currently waiting for the rain to clear out enough for me to get outside to take a look at.
And the damaged flywheel has came across my mind due to it sounding like it wants to start then it sounding like free spinning, and it whining down.
thank you fo the advice
