good feedback

each door lock on that toyota will have an actuator motor..
hard wired to the front key operated door locks

with door cards off
visual inspection of the rear door actuator motor working and wires is required to finish the job

Interesting, so there's no central control?

not on your model

your central locking is key activated only

on your car , it is all internal .. out of sight ... behind the door cards kick panels

flexiable power wires are run to each door at the gap/space across the door hinges

Is this a factory install or dealer? Do you have a schematic for this? I have a factory service manual that shows a block called door lock relay, I'm not sure yet if this is what is installed. The install is really poor. Holes drilled in the hinge areas, no bushings, tape on the wires.

not sure if your car came from the factory with central locking .. base model it was optional

today I cant find a 1987 toyota camry central locking system or any parts for sale

wont know what the actuator motors are genuine till you look at them

your description says > very rough d i y repair by some one
or a DIY conversion parts out of a camry that had centeral locking
or it is not the original door fitted to the car (accident /rust )

A door lock relay is a genuine part but can also be bought in after market kits

This car was the classic little old lady car. 40k on it, interior was pristine. If it was anything, it was a dealer add on, but poorly done, IMO. I'll be able to get more info in a couple of weeks when she goes to spain.

An update, the car is finally back. This is definitely an aftermarket install. I got under the dash and found the module. It's called "The Protector" power lock control. The idiots who installed it put the power wire under the tail light fuse and instead of shortening the wires, they just wadded them up and taped them. Well when I tried to open the bundle up, they were melted together. Also, it was fused with a 20A fuse. I opened up the module and the board has been over heated and a track has been smoked. I am going to repair the board and take a Huntron to it and check the components. Unfortunately, the rear door is still stuck locked. I think the solenoid has probably been melted and is frozen. This is all probably related. I think it operated as follows: Unlocking either front door should unlock all doors. However, the driver door input does not seem to be working, passenger works ok. Rear doors only get unlocked, have no control circuit.
