My 2001 Toyota Camry (85000 miles) has started having engine hiccups. While driving, I sense a hiccup, transmission downshifts and if I try to accelerate, it hiccups again before picking up. One time at a stoplight, the dashboard lights came on almost as if the engine was not running. When I restarted the lights went off and it started. What could be causing the hiccups? Any help would be appreciated so that I know what to look for and how much it would cost.

When was the last tune up done on this car? Like plugs, filters, etc. Any check engine light?
