Default '87 Camry Overheating

1987 Toyota Camry Automatic, It has recently started overheating very quickly. I fill the water, drive about 2 km, stop at a junction and the temperture soars straight away, what could this be? When I check it has almost emptied the watertank!

Any help greatly appreciated!

i would start suspecting a head gasket............either a leak from the gasket to the ground, or inside the cylinder and you're burning it. get it checked out ASAP and try not to drive it anymore. but then, i do believe the damage is already done. you may very well need a new cylinder head.
