Hi all

I recently purchased a 1990 Toyota Camry station wagon automatic. It's my first car.

It seems to be in good order, however I have noticed that the gear stick is very loose in it's housing and feels like it could come out completely (although it doesn't seem to come out so far). No issues in it's actual operation (I can put it in drive, reverse etc no problem), it just concerns me. Any idea how to fix or if it will be expensive at a mechanic?

remove center console to inspect the shifter assembly , sometimes is just the cable end bushing worn out .

 

yep, I agree... check the cable it's always the cable.
