Question 93 camry speedometer and tachometer not working correctly

I recently changed my thermostat, temperature switch and battery in my 93 camry 4 cyl, but when i took my car around the block to test my work, my speedometer and tachometer are reading incredibly low. Is this something i can fix on my own?

Not sure how to help. The speedo takes signals off the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on the transmission while I believe the tach uses the ignition system through the ECM. Is the engine running ok and is the trans shifting alright?

This sounds exactly like my 1993 Wagon...

Odometer and Trip meter work fine (used the mile markers on the freeway)

But the tachometer never goes over 500rpm and the speedometer read 40 mph while passing traffic... (I slowed to 30 to not get a ticket)
