Default 93 camry using oil when towing

hi i have a 1993 toyota camry 2.2 auto .When i drive long distance temperature guage never goes over half if i tow a trailer or not .When i tow i drive at 80- km to 110 km a hour .Car uses a lot of oil when towing sometimes 2 liters for 200 kilometers .When driving not towing hardly uses any oil.The car has a header that was made for towing that seems to generate a lot of heat when towing when checking oil during towing engine bay very hot even though temperature stays below half always ..should i change back to original header for start if timing is slightly out can it also cause engine to feel hotter than normal as car idles below 1000rpm but seems to only start moving fowards on 1500rpm

Check for oil leaks and a problem PVC system. The engine may not be burning oil, but its going elsewhere.

Did you check to make sure the vehicle is suitable to tow the particular weight. Maybe its too much stress on engine. It's not like the old days were most cars were rear wheel, not unit body (frame) and you had that torque since the drive wheel is closer to the tongue to pull trailers. My RAV4 I had to be careful on what it could tow, Had the dealer install everything.
