98 Camry V6 missing
I have a 98 Camry XLE V6 with 130K. Great car! The past couple of days it started missing badly when cold. I tried some gas treatment but that seemed to be a waste of time. After the engine reaches normal operating temp it seems to go away. No idiot lights of any kind. Tuned up within last 4 months.
Anyone have any suggestions beofre I take it to my mechanic?
Thanks,
Russ

If the "tune-up" included new wires then the problem may be the engine coolant temp sensor. The missing may be due to a not rich enough mixture that is needed when the engine is cold. Too lean is hard to ignite and would cause missing. The missing would involve all cylinders not just one or two. Test the ECT sensor first with an ohm meter.
Pedro,
Thanks for the reply. The comment about the coolant brings up an interesting point. I may be losing my mind here but when the car is started from dead cold, there is a cooling fan that comes on immediately. I do not remember it doing that before. This was happening before the missing problem. I thought that fan only came on after the car was warmed up. I will check the ECT also.
Thanks agaun,
Russ
