The arrows on 2001 camry oil pump
Do the arrows on the oil pump drive and driven rotors have to be timed in any way and if so how? All I can find is they face inward twoards engine block. Just want to be sure they do not have to be indexed in some way? I just replaced the formed o ring and appon asembly I saw the arrows yet can't determine what or how they index so i just put it together and it runs just makeing sure i did not miss something in this reguard. So if they dont index then why are they there? Other than face inward?
The outer gear is going to walk around the inner gear. With this, change any tooth alignment the two gears had at one time.
Orient the gears as you describe.
A suggestion is to oil or grease lube the gear faces and circumference to improve pump priming. It has happened, pumps fail to prime.

So it doesn't matter how you orintate or ix the pump in reqaurd to the arrows on the gears? So why are they there ? Anyone have a factory service manual im sure that will give the story of the arrows.
Your link takes me to a 3rd party hosting advertsement to buy photo bucket hosting so i can't access your picture? Well when i find the answer to why there are what apear to be indexing arrows on the oil pump rotors I will post in the mean time anyone with the tecnical knowlege to answer this question I am all ears.
