Are the alternators new, no name rebuilt, name brand and how do they fail?

Is the car electrical system stock, has large stereo amp, etc?

How is the battery, battery cables and connections, alternator connections, wiring, etc?

Are you driving long enough to recharge the battery?

Does the car have any large amplifier for stereo or installed high amp lights?

When driving with the head lights and heater blower on, do the lights dim at idle?

Alternators don't like bad wiring, ground problems, intermediate connections in wiring and generating too much power. If somehow the battery gets disconnected from the alternator even momentary (bad connection) the alternator can be damaged.

Make sure the battery is good and doesn't have an internal short.

Check any battery connections including negative battery cable to chassis ground. Make sure there is a ground strap between the engine and chassis.

Its possible to get a bad rebuilt alternator out of the box.

Its possible for an alternators electrical system to partially fail as in one diode fail. The result is less amp output when then strains the alternator more. However the alternator should not be damaging diodes until there is a problem.
