Default Brake Malfunction Issues

  • When it comes to the frequently reported Camry brake malfunction issues, owners have reported that the issue has manifested itself in a few different ways. The below are the most common reports.
  1.
    • Intermittent brake failure where the brakes become unresponsive. Any form of brake failure can be potentially dangerous as it can cause drivers to lose control of the vehicle.
    • ABS light is always coming on. The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) is the component of the braking system that prevents the wheel from locking up when the brakes are applied. When the ABS light is on, it means the system will not engage properly when you use the brakes. Although you can technically drive with the ABS light on, it can be dangerous and is discouraged.
    • Before becoming unresponsive, the brake pedals can become either soft (pedal sinks all the way to the floor) or stiff (have to press down on the pedal heavily).
    • Car begins to shake when brakes are applied. Although you are still able to operate the vehicle during this issue, the problem is sometimes so severe that owners find it difficult to drive.
If you suspect that your car has a brake issue, do not continue to drive it. Be sure to take it to the repair shop for a proper diagnosis to identify the cause and the best solution to the problem as soon as you can.
