Hi,

I have a 97 Camry(4cyl) and recently went for my state inspection. The car failed the inspection as there was a small hole on the intermediate pipe and the gaskets on either side of the intermediate pipe have corroded. The auto place gave me a quote of $625(incl labor) for replacing the muffler, intermediate pipe and the gaskets. I then checked the parts at the local toyota dealership. they are quoting the parts alone at 662$. The local autozone quoted me around $260 for both the muffler and the intermediate pipe. It seems like a huge difference in price. Can somebody suggest me what to do. Should i also try the local exhaust shops to check if the muffler needs a replacement or not.
