I am putting a 94 Camry LE back together that got in a head on the airbag deployed on the Driver Side but did not fully inflate. The P side did not inflate at all.

I am forced to put in salvaged bags from wrecking yard and have replaced the console Airbag ECU the switch with winding spring behind steering wheel and the trigger on side hit in accident.

I have been told that airbags this old are useless because the gas goes bad is their anyway to find out?

The dealership wants $980.00 for D side Bag and cant even get the other one.

 

My old 1993 Honda Accord was just involved in an accident with it's new driver and the AB deployed fully without a hitch. Eventually everything will go bad, but I think the auto makers have developed a system that will most likely outlast the car.

 

pass side bag is a two stage bag to prevent killing light weight people , that is why didn't inflate as much as the driver side ,on a 1994 air bag system only pass side have dual stage bags on todays day cars all bags have multiple stage ,its controled by a map inside the bottom of the seat foam .

test the ressistance on used air bag make sure they are with in manufactures specs that its all you can do to test them , or you can put 12 v to the bad and watch how it blows but not recomended .

 

The gas is generated by what is the equivalent of a solid rocket motor. If you wear your seat belt, the air bag is a supplement - extra.
