Depends on year of car.
One side of the connector on the valve has a plastic tang. One side of the tang is sloped to allow the plug to slide up and over it. In the link below the tang is between the two plastic arms sticking out on the bottom of the plug.

You need to pull up the plastic catch on the plug to get it over the tang.
In theory pressing on the back end of the plug (squeezing the plug) causes the catch to pivot and move up.
Suggest you look at other plugs on the cars such as for VSV valves which might be the same and may allow you to actually look at the plug close up as you attempt to pull of the harness plug.
