Smile engine oil level

Just got my 10K mile service done on the 2013 Camry LE. This is the first service where they change the oil (I had already changed the oil once at 7K since I don't like going that long). When I changed the oil I went by the book exactly, 4.25 gts of 0W20 synthetic. When they finished I looked at the paper work and it showed 5 qts. And when I got home the oil on the stick was significantly above the full mark compared to where it was when I changed the oil, just below the full mark.

My concern is with this much oil is the crank going to hit the oil and foam it up causing a loss of lubrication. Like to hear from you guys with more experience with this car. I've been changing my own oil for 60 years and should not have let them do such an important job all by thenselves.

Forgot to tell you it is the four cylinder.

How much is significantly above full mark? Did you check on level ground and after letting the car sit overnight. Then wipe the stick down and check again.

You think the dealer added 0.75 qt extra? This appears reasonably common at dealers.

The engine has balance shafts located below the crank. As such the crank throws are well above the oil in the pan.

My opinion is if 0.75 qt over, this is not enough for concern. Although have no hard data.

I suggest taking the car to the dealer when convenient and have the service manager check it. My opinion is the dealer will state not to worry. They may overfill on a routine basis to compensate for any oil consumption over 10K miles.

The owners manual must have a caution on overfilling or state to keep oil between the marks. Thus your question is reasonable and always good to check things out. The dealer may just assume owners never check the oil and will not notice.
