Default gear indicator lights

The reverse gear indicator light stays on, the light gets brighter when I step on the brake but the console indicator light does not.. The light showing what gear I am in still works. And there is an indicator light on the dash telling me to take it to a dealer. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Year of car?

What is the reverse gear indicator light, one of the P,R,N,3,2,1 lights on the dash board?

Is the take it to the dealer light, actually the service light?

Does the car have an owners manual? If so find the light explanation in the manual and post back.

Yes I am talking about the gear indicator lites on the dash. the lights work but the reverse light stays on. The trouble light is the one for "take it to the dealer"
It's interesting that the reverse indicator light on the dash gets brighter when you step on the brake.

The trouble light issue is most likely not connected to the reverse light.

Check the wiring harness in the trunk where it runs from the chassis to the trunk lid. Often the wires become frayed and damaged (shorts) due to flexing with trunk lid usage. This can cause power to feedback from the brake wires to the dash.

What year of car?
