ghost problem
Occassionaly stalls at stop sign or light. starts hard after stalling. seems to occur more in warmer temperature. 97 camry 2.2. Has been looked at twice by a trusted mechanic. Going into shop tomorrow 4/4/22. New to this forum also.

You need to consider no start condition , you need to check whether if you have fuel and spark
-> To test fuel , get some carb cleaner and spray into throttle body (light spray for 1sec) , try to start car -> if it starts it could be fuel pump and/or plugged filter -> need to check fuel pressure+ whether injector fire(ECU)
-> To test spark , remove one spark plug, connect it outside of engine to spark plug lead , grab a jumper cable and attach the clip to the ground side of the spark plug and the other side to the negative terminal of battery, crank engine then observe for spark
Other things to consider for no start
+1 on Engine Coolant Temperature , there are two sensors one for temp gauge reading and one for the ECU, check turboninja's manual online for location (its near distributor ,in a row of 3 sensors).
Consider also the following

Consider also the following
- this is a 1997 5s-fe Camry, this particular variant has a crank sensor which could be bad and causing no start condition
- If the ECU has never been replaced , it could have faulty capacitors which will act good depending on different temp (its behind the glove box) , remove and inspect

Could be a failing engine coolant temp sensor as used by the computer. That was precisely what my mechanic did and it solved the "ghost" problem. I want to thank you very much for your kind and correct response to my query.
