ok, lets see if i can describe this. First im new here and the car is a 1992 toyota camry LE with the 2.2L It has i think 140,000 miles on it and it runs great....sometimes. I jsut bought the car and dont know much about it. OK here goes.

When it first starts up and when the engine is not warmed up yet, it runs great, but once it gets warmed up and you've driven it for awhile, it will want to die when you pull up to a light, or something. If the RPM is below 1000 then you have to keep it going. Once you get driving though and the rpms are up again, the car runs really great. I dont know what it could be. and then sometimes after driving it for a long time, it wont do it anymore, but then it will start again. I've done a basic tune up on it . in like reverse and drive it wants to die, and even when you shift into neutral, it does better, but still really struggles to stay running and will most of the time die. any help would be greatly appriciated. thanks a lot. ok problem solved. it was a clogged EGR vaccumm line. runs great now.

 

Had the same problem with a 96 camry 2.2 motor. The egr helped but the real culprit that didnt give a code was a 21.00 coolant temp sensor. That is what finally cured all stalling problems.

 

Is stalling a common problem with camrys?
