Question help

Hello All,
Pleasure to meet you. I have a 2001 Toyota Camry and something weird has been happening. Sometimes when I hit the gas pedal, the car doesnt accelerate. (It doesn't make any sounds) Then after a few seconds, it picks up and starts going again.

Does this mean my transmission is dying?

Does the engine RPM increase when pressing on the throttle?

Under what driving conditions is this occurring.

If going up a hill and applying more throttle. The car may not accelerate until the trans downshifts to increase RPM to the level needed to do so.

When the issue happens again.

Determine if the engine RPM rises with the increased throttle.

If safe to do so, try full throttle. The engine should now make lots of noise. Then determine if the trans downshifts (you should feel this as a jolt).
