Unhappy Help identifying a transponder key

My son lost the only key we had to a 98 Camry. I don't know if it had a transponder or just a fob built into it. Can someone tell me if I am going to need a transponder key programmed or can a locksmith just cut me a regular key that will work in the ignition? It has a security system with a red button on the dash. It looked exactly like this one.

If the car has a security system called an "immobilizer" then the ign key has a transponder.

If you lost the master key then the cars computer will need to be replaced or reflashed.

Suggest reviewing the info at the link below:

When your getting another master key made, make two master keys and keep one in a safe place.

Are you sure about it and tell me can a locksmith will be able to make a transponder key for a car?

I was able to locate this OEM Toyota transmitter based on your model. It looks different from pictures online. https://www.toyotapartsprime.com/oem...9742aa010.html

Camry started putting chips into keys in 1998. If you have the master key you can make another key using it. If you lost all the keys the cars computer will need to be reflashed.

One can get a key that looks just like the one in the photo and the key can be cut using another key as a pattern. Unless that new key is programmed into the cars computer the engine will not start.

Yes, the new key you will have from the locksmith or from the dealership has a new key pattern and it's been newly programmed.

Take VIN to the locksmith and they will make you a new transponder key.
