The shop manual has nothing on replacing the shift **** itself. Might try asking at the Toyotanation website.

You can access the shifter base by removing a panel that goes around the shift arm and emergency brake handle.

The front of the panel sides under part of the center console where the open glove box is, the rear is pushed down into rectangle hole of console.

The panel has a clip molded into each side of the panel about 3/4 of the way back from the front of the panel. One on each side. When the rear of the panel is pushed down, the clips retract then spring out under the console edge to hold the panel in place.

Use a taped over flat screw driver of something else that is thin to wedge between the panel and center console housing at the location of the clip to push the clip back. Then gently pry the panel up, starting at the rear.

Once the rear of the panel is free, the panel can be pulled out.
