Default How to make transmission/accelerator more linear? 2010 LE

So here we are in April 2023, and I have just purchased a 2010 Camry LE (automatic) with 155,000 miles on it. So far I love the car, except that it’s herky jerky as I depress the gas pedal from a dead stop. Either “no“ acceleration, or full-on neck jerking too much acceleration. Is there any kind of modification that I can do, that will make the car accelerate more smoothly and sort of “obey“ the inputs that I am giving with my foot?

One of the many maintenance items that my local Toyota dealership recommended was changing the automatic transmission fluid. I will probably do that soon, but I don’t think that’s going to fix this problem. Please correct me if I’m wrong!

Thank you all so much.

Try to determine if the issue is an engine problem or trans problem. Watch the engine RPM and monitor gas pedal position.

If the engine RPM is going up with gas pedal engagement but the car is not moving it might be trans problem.
