Question Idle low with air conditioning on

Hi, newbie here.

I just bought a 1990 camry dx 2.0L 4 cyl with the 3S-FE engine and auto trans and 188,000 miles.

I've been working on cars, trucks, motorcycles, what have you for 30 years including running '67 Barracuda's in amateur class dragracing but apparently I stiil have more learning to do. I've never worked on anything fuel injected ( or Japanese ) before.

My question is how do an Idle up adjstment. when the air conditioner compressor engages the engine RPM drops.

I found and down-loaded the complete shop service and repair manual for the car, and it mentions the idle up rpm when checking for proper function after installing a new air conitioner compressor belt, but it gives no information on how to do it.

If I understand it correctly it should increase from 700 to 950 + or -.

does anybody know how to do that adjustment?

Guessing? looking at the wiring diagram there is a VSV valve (electric valve used to control vacuum) that turns on with the A/C. This valve appears to bypass air from the air cleaner to the intake manifold which should will increase RPM.

On the later model cars this job appears to be done completely by the IAC valve.

The increased RPM is around 950/1000ish.
