Default Ignition Switch Intermittent

I have a 96 Camry V6 Automatic with an aftermarket security system and 80,000.
The ignition switch usually will not work on the first try. Try several times, take key out, put it in, flip it upside down and try other side, wait, try again, turning alarm on and off, on and off, chanting and praying or combinations of the above will work eventually. This has been getting progressively worse since I bought the car "Will not work" means the key cannot be turned to the right. Once movement is allowed, all is OK.
When I first got the car, the key was difficult to remove. Lubing with a lock lubricant solved that problem, but over time this problem appeared.
It is possible to get the car to start without turning the security system on and off, so I suspect that lock rather than the security system, but I don't know for sure.
Is this likely a problem with the ignition switch, and will replacing the switch be the likely cure?
Thanks in Advance

Try having a new key made at the Toyota dealer using the VIN number.
