I am trying to increase the horse power in my 1991 toyota camry 2.5 L v6 anyone have any suggestions i am going to have the cayalyst converter removed and replaced with a straight pipe. Also i'm debating with my mechanic if a turbo could be put into this car does anyone have any ideas if their is one available or do i have to mod another existing one.

 

Of course it could weather or not i would suggest it is another matter all together. Its an older car so if you do go that route you may be looking at rebuilding your engine with stronger internals and a diff. compression ratio.

 

For boosted engines you want a compression ratio of 8.5:1, not sure what it is stock but its probably something close. As for the turbo setup.. there are no kits, and you would need custom everything. I would just spray the **** out of it and call it a day. Cheaper and easier to set up.

If you are gifted you can get around the lower compression deal. I made my own alcohol/water (with a touch of actone to ward off algee)progressive injection and with a stock compression ratio of 9.7 was able to coax 25lbs of boost without detonation. But with that kind of boost on a piston engine copper o-ringing is advisable.

I'm assuming your talking about piston rings, but I have never heard of anyone using copper to make piston rings. which really doesnt make much sense to me anyway.And what excatly did you put your own alcohol and water injection system on??? And what kind of fuel did you use?? I'm going to go ahead and assume you had a fully built engine and head, but I'm still interested and would like to hear more about this.Come on I want allthe detals.

 

A little bit of adding acetone(very little)can boost your car's horse power. It helps burn the fuel more efficiently. Mostproducts for octane boosting is made of similar fomular as acetone. However, you're doing it at your own risk. It can reduce the longevity of your engine. Theless you use, the better result you'll get. Do not try with the aceton which is used in nail shop. It has to be 100% aceton.

Having cut the block to install copper o-rings is for the added sealing quality when the boost is cranked up.
