New York Times Article

In todays issue (3/18) back page of the sports section. How many drivers are keeping cars for 200,000 - 300,000 miles. It makes economic sense.

Doesn't it make economic sense to keep the car as long as it's running?
Or am I supposed to sell it after 300,000 miles and buy a new one? Well I don't think that would be very economical...

According to the Times, the key to longevity in post 1980's cars is that the bodies don't rust and the piston rings suffer about 90% less wear than older engines.

Rust proofing has certainly improved.

No sense paying $20-30K plus tax on this amount when a used one is much cheaper. Save the difference in cost for gas money.
